Gameplay

Here are some of the game modes available in Catastrophic Inversion and some of the ways you can customize gameplay.

Deathmatch

Take down as many players as you can.
The player with the most kills wins.

Team / Free-for-All

Timed / First-to-Winning-Score

Elimination

Take down as many players as you can, but be careful! You have a limited number of lives. Once you run out of lives, you're done.
The last one standing wins!

Team / Free-for-All

Capture the Flag

Both teams have a flag to defend and a base to defend it. Bring the enemy's flag back to your base to score. The team who scores the most flags wins!

or CTF Assault

Only one team has a flag, and must defend it from the other team. If the defensive team can hold off the offensive team long enough, they win the game.

Mix & Match

Want to see who can score enough kills while capturing flags and trying not to get eliminated?

Mix and match any combination of win states for an unpredictable match!

Customize

Set the pace of your match by adjusting respawn times, lives, flags, and timers.

Save your custom game mode for easy access next time.

Can I play online?

We do not currently host matchmaking servers, but you are welcome to host your own server. Next to your local IP is a button that opens up online hosting instructions. You will need to provide other players with your public IP, and go into your router to set up port forwarding over port 7778 (all protocols) to your private IP. Port forwarding varies from router to router, but here are the basic instructions. If you do not manage your own network (such as in a dorm or apartment building) you will likely be unable to host your own server.

Anyone joining online will need to play in joystick mode for now and you will need to use an external service (such as Meta's voice chat feature) to talk to the other players as there are no mic functionalities in-game.

Is there a way non-participants can watch?

We're working on Spectator Mode apps for PC and Android.
