Headset Options
The game is currently available on Meta Quest.
We have plans to make it available on Pico, Vive, and PCVR... but for now, it is only on Quest.
Here is our breakdown of the headset options and our recommendations, plus upgrade recommendations.
The cheapest option to play the game.
~$150 on secondhand Markets
The most inexpensive headset that can play the game properly.
Beautiful 4k full-color screen.
Low-resolution black & white external cameras that will provide a less-than-optimal experience in the Mixed-Reality segments in the Lobby and potential future MR arenas.
The most cost-effective way to get the full experience.
Full-color passthrough for the mixed-reality segments of the game.
Smaller controller profile
Otherwise runs the game identically to the Quest 2 (this has a faster chip, but we're not pushing anything graphically, so it won't make a difference).
More future-proof as updates are added since it is newer.
The best experience in all areas.
Even higher resolution display.
High clarity lenses and better field of view.
Otherwise runs identical to Quest 3s
Accessories to Consider
Upgraded Headstrap
We strongly advise upgrading the head strap for guest comfort, sanitation, and convenience.
We like the KiwiDesign Comfort Strap. It's cheap, easy-to-use, and comfortable. There is also a battery option that will extend the battery another 50%.
If you're expecting non-stop all-day traffic, we recommend the BoboVR Hot-Swappable Battery Strap.
Upgraded Facial Interface
We strongly advise upgrading the facial interface to make it more comfortable and easy to wipe clean.
There are many options, but we like the KiwiDesign Facial Interface, for its comfort and ventilation (to address fogging).
Knuckle Grips
Meta's controllers come with simple wrist loops to prevent controllers from accidentally flying out of your hands. Sometimes guests get confused by these and will struggle to put them on, wear them wrong, or not wear them at all.
We recommend switching to knuckle grip style, which is very quick to put on and allows guests to completely release the controllers and and they remain in your hands.
Again, we like Kiwi's. They (and others) also make an extended grip if you anticipate playing with individuals with larger-than-average hands.
