Allen Scheck
Hi! I'm Allen.
I've been an avid gamer since I was 2 years old and my mom taught me to navigate MS-DOS to get to the games on her computer.
I am a Computer Science graduate with a decade of IT experience, including workstation support, networking, and Power Platform development.
My game design studio, Toastid Waffel is my first foray back into the world of software development after a multi-year break and I'm very excited to be back.
VR Gamer to VR Developer
I've watched the shaky history of VR from a distance for much of my life, but I was blown away a few years ago when I got my hands on the Oculus Quest 2. I soon dove headfirst into the world of VR (at one point, even fashioning my own budget omnidirectional treadmill).
My passion project for over a year has been the development of Catastrophic Inversion, a multiplayer VR shooter which allows 2-10 people to run around together using natural movement in dynamic multi-story gym-sized environments. It is available on the Meta Quest Store and I spend much of my free time adding to the game.
If you're interested in VR but have been afraid to dive in, it has become very accessible and more affordable than any other video game platform. Check out my tips for getting started with VR.
Interviews & Appearances
They recently had Catastrophic Inversion as a featured game at their annual Video Game Convention.
You can also check out two previous episodes where they talked about the game before (2:20) and after (8:40) the convention.
